Description
The NID is a low-pass filter designed to enable POTS service to coexist with ADSL2+ and VDSL2 data signals up to 30MHz.
As networks speed up and the microfilters typically used for xDSL connectivity hit their limitations, carriers need alternative, high-bandwidth CPE solutions that take them to their preferred demarcation point. Comtest’s entire family of CPE splitters supports VDSL2 while remaining backwards-compatible with existing ADSL technologies.
Comtest splitters prevent interference between POTS and VDSL2 signals, ensuring high-quality delivery of voice and enhanced data service such as video. Their innovative design addresses specific issues that affect video quality such as ring-trip.
Features unique to the NID include the addition of secondary surge protection and compatibility with HPNA home networking.
Connection to the DSL modem and telephone equipment is straight forward. Insulation Displacement Connectors (IDCs) ensure quick and reliable connections and do not require any tools.
Comtest Networks also offers integrated Network Interface Devices complete with station protector, subscriber bridge and our NID-01V POTS splitter. These integrated products allow for the expansion of pair counts and are available in a variety of configurations, providing flexibility and allowing Telco’s to simplify installation. Adapter plates are also available for installation in industry standard NIDs, making it easy to upgrade current CPE’s to interoperate with the newer VDSL2 standards.
Product Benefits
- Industry Compliant
- Compatible with HPNA home networking
- Fits most standard NIDs
- Insulation Displacement Connectors for easy installation
- Environmentally hardened
- Secondary lightning/surge suppression
- Compliant to Telcordia and CSA/UL Standards
- Adapter Plates for installation in industry standard NIDs
